So Many Projects, So Little Time

I had this all planned out that starting in June 2011 that I would begin learning more about web design on my own without college. Now June is almost over with and I have nothing to show for my well thought out plans. I realize that I need to get my butt in gear so I can begin the projects I promised myself I would. I have let Second Life, a not-so-great relationship, Aion, and other things cloud my mind from what I really intended to do starting this summer. It is obvious to me that the college degree that has eluded me for so many years just ain't going to come to pass. I still have loans that I need to defer thanks to people telling me to not worry about the student loans and go for my degree a few years ago. I refuse to put blame on those people although it so hard not to. Fact is that I most likely will never get my degree in web development but that shouldn't stop me from pursuing the learning I wanted to get. There are like a million books on the subject of web design, web development, and graphic design. Heck I even have a book I bought that is all about learning Blender for 3D graphics but I haven't truly delved into that either. Not to mention the countless web development magazines from an expensive subscription I had which has now expired. I need to read all of those issues of the magazines to learn what they have to teach me. It time I get away from this virtual life and move into the learning I wish to do. After all, I have a friend who would really like me to do up her business website sometime in 2012. It would be cheaper for her to hire me and I also will make sure that I do the work of keeping it up to date so she only needs to worry about the business side itself. I don't believe in web designers doing up a website then leaving it up to the customer to keep it running good and up to date. People wouldn't hire web designers or developers if they could do it all themselves. So here's to kicking myself in the butt to do the things I desire to do.
